Chasing shadows, finding lights.
I’m Dani Molnár.
Photography, as a peculiar and unique way of self-expression, has occupied me since I was a child; at that time mostly in the form of capturing family events and holidays. For me, photography was just a few fleeting, occasionally exciting and lovely pastimes for me at the time. It was only much later that a conscious experience of creative intent was associated with it. The turning point came in 2012 with a nearly six-month ‘trip’ to Scotland. The unusual uniqueness and irresistibly mystical atmosphere of the landscape and surroundings there captivated me and encouraged me to capture what I saw and thus share the visual experiences with others. If I look back on my photography at the time from a strictly professional point of view, I would still not call it fully conscious, but rather an enthusiastic “click” of a tourist on a mobile phone. From these enthusiastic “clicks,” I became more and more thoughtful, consistent, and most importantly, I became aware of the need to search for a more conscious subject and composition, which inevitably led me to replace my phone camera with a MILC.
In the past half a decade or so, several genres of photography have touched me, and I have even tasted and experimented with some of them on a practical level. Over time, the picture became clearer in me, and it became clear what was really close to me, in which genre I could really be fulfilled, and which one I was able to express myself with – through photography as a channel of communication.
I believe that every moment that slips away helplessly and disappears permanently carries with it a small fraction of eternity. I look for these hiding fragments and try to make them visible in my photos.
I sincerely hope that my photos will serve as thought-provoking and a wing for boundless imagination for those who view them – here and now … and beyon
